New album

I'm going to start chronicling the tale of my new album, tentatively titled Money Dub, as I began work this week in accordance with the new year. My first album Chubby Dub, was a sample filled exploration of different styles, I wanted to prove that I could step outside of the standard hip hop style, and I worked with reggae, and more uptempo, island feels, almost all of the album was completed on a Boss SP-303, a great little sampler.

For my next project, I plan to enter the world of sample free production, so that I can disseminate the album further without worrying about clearances, and work to license the music to various agencies, television, video etc. My goal with the project is to create an album of hip hop beats that has cinematic elements (good for applying the music to scores etc.) and functions as an instrumental album rather than a collection of songs. Because these are still beats and I do not plan to deviate too much from the 16 bar verses, 8 bar chorus format, they will be exciting and build up. I plan to feature mc's on maybe four or five verses, interspersed at various points within the albums for 16 bars.

This project will be a tool for mc's. My beats have a large head not factor and work well for freestyling, and as I have produced for the many mc's I've worked with I've developed a reputation for beats that spark conceptual work. I think this album will be useful to freestyle and write to for any mc, in addition to simple aural pleasure.

All these thoughts relate to the planning behind the ideas of the album, I will continue on a daily basis to chronicle the production, arrangment and marketing of the project.
